Queering the Script

Fans of lesbian fictional characters in love such as Xena and Gabrielle in Xena Warrior Princess, Tara and Willow in Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Bette and Tina in the L Word, Waverly and Nicole in Wynonna Earp, and Thunder and Grace in Black Lightning are going to love this documentary that explores the history of the depiction of lesbian characters on television and the fans who love and are inspired by them. This insightful and at times poignant film is filled with interviews with producers, actresses, and fans and film footage from various fan conventions that celebrate lesbian characters depicted on the small screen. If you have been to a fan convention, you might catch a glimpse of yourself or your fangirl friends in the background…I know I did!  – Marilyn Cristiano, Desperado Film Festival 2019
